The fundamental focus of my practice is simple, yet one of the most troublesome to conquer without proper guidance: Ineffective (and sometimes non-existent) communication. Regardless of how effectively you or your organization operates, there will always be an inherent conflict somewhere. The most crucial undertaking within any organization is the determination of where these breakdowns in communication occur, the subsequent facilitation of dialogue and, further (the often overlooked step), the commitment to future communication. Eliminating these barriers yields a monumental impact…re-inspiring individuals and creating environments that are positively electric with collaboration and innovation.

Assess

The challenges that most management teams face are significant under normal circumstances. Given the current state of the economy and associated anxiety, it is even more important that teams now face these challenges in a unified manner.

The Delta Diagnostic, a 360 degree review, provides the opportunity for company leaders to examine every aspect of the company and voice their perspectives. Three key areas are assessed: Strategy, Structure and Culture. The perspectives are then compared and analyzed for the degree of variance within the different points of view, uncovering the organization’s perceived strengths and weaknesses (essentially, identifying the “elephant in the boardroom”), and providing a “map” of the company and the basis for the next steps – aligning conversations and strategic planning.

Align

After the assessment, areas that appear to be out of alignment need to be addressed, in an effort to create a stronger, more unified and efficient organization. These conversations are often difficult…through guidance, mediation and candor, productive dialogue is brought about, and the troublesome elephant is put to bed. By putting people at ease and breaking down barriers that prevent shared knowledge, people can see the connections among their collective talents, actions, and missions. Through this, consensus is reached and stronger and more fluid teams are built. When situations are enjoyable and exciting, and people believe in what they are doing, there is a greater commitment to achievement.
